Before you ask aka -mini is a play on words with the Japanese aka-mimi or ''red ear'' term for red selvedge denim ( or self-edge) if you are a Luddite , or ''salvage'' if you are a blogger....

Ijin ''Irregular Indigo Items'' purposely distort the rules of denim know-how,with the clear intention of presenting the classic indigo leg in a contemporary & ingeniously alternative way. ''Ijin'' is an archaic Japanese word which was once used to describe someone as an 'outsider' ,'black sheep' or 'alien'.
